Spanish Inspired Music – Ken Lavone Foster (klf)

These pieces were inspired when I lived close to the border of Mexico. The Spanish music was prevalent in our society. The trumpet fanfare eschews in piece of epic proportions, the second rhythmic extravagance of myriad emotions and style delving into the rhythms of the stylized flamenco. The third more rhythmic dance music leaving the listener breathless. The fourth softens into an episodic description of Spanish life with hints of rhythmic outbursts propelling into a full-fledged dance routine ending in a flurry of repetitive dance rhythms.

After a short introduction the music burst into passages that reminds one of the Mariachi bands and the flowery production of Spanish dances. The piece, Close to the Border, draws from themes and rhythms heard and felt living close to the border.
