Ken L. Foster was born in Arkansas and raised in Missouri. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Arkansas State University, studying with Jared Spears, well-known composer for band and professor, followed by a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University, where his compositions were performed by the university’s student orchestra. During this time, he also participated in master classes with the distinguished pianist Claude Frank, noted for his contributions to chamber music performance. He also took classes at Oberlin College.
Foster began his professional career in Yuma, Arizona, where he taught music and remained actively engaged as a composer and performer. His works from this period include a cantata and several compositions for band, many of which were performed locally. He also appeared as a recitalist at the local junior college, further establishing his presence in the regional music community.
Alongside his musical pursuits, Foster developed a strong interest in technology. He spent several years teaching computer courses at both the junior high and college levels. This dual passion for music and technology ultimately converged, creating his current body of work. The compositions featured on this website reflect that synthesis, having been created using a digital audio workstation.
He now is married with a loving wife and four grandchildren living in Oxford, Mississippi.
